BREWING GUIDE

Water Quality: Use filtered water when possible. Coffee is 98% water, so quality matters. Aim for water temperature between 195-205°F (90-96°C).  I like 203 myself...

Coffee-to-Water Ratio: Start with 1:16 ratio (1 gram coffee to 16 grams water). For example, 30g coffee to 480g water. Adjust to taste.

Grind Fresh: Grind beans just before brewing. Grind size depends on your method—coarser for French press, finer for espresso.

Freshness: Use coffee within 2-4 weeks of the roast date for peak flavor. Store in an airtight container away from light and heat.

Pour Over (V60, Chemex):
Grind: Medium (like sea salt)
Time: 3-4 minutes
Best for: Highlighting bright, complex flavors in our high-altitude single-origins

French Press:
Grind: Coarse (like breadcrumbs)
Time: 4 minutes steep
Best for: Full-bodied, rich cup with more oils and texture

Drip Coffee Maker:
Grind: Medium
Time: 5-6 minutes
Best for: Consistent, easy daily brewing

Espresso:
Grind: Fine (like table salt)
Time: 25-30 seconds extraction
Best for: Concentrated, intense flavor

• Bloom your coffee: Pour just enough water to saturate grounds, wait 30-45 seconds, then continue brewing. This releases CO2 and improves extraction.
• Clean your equipment regularly to prevent oil buildup that can turn rancid.
• Experiment with ratios and grind size to find your perfect cup.

Troubleshooting:
Bitter taste: 
Water too hot, over-extraction, or grind too fine

Sour/weak taste: 
Water too cool, under-extraction, or grind too coarse

Flat flavor: 
Coffee may be stale or water quality poor
